As part of the Night on Earth series, ceiling service was presented at Futura Seoul on November 30th and December 1st.

This event featured live audio-visual performances centered around the real-time interpretation of experimental music. Musicians generated complex soundscapes which visual artists simultaneously translated into dynamic projected visuals. The performance aimed to offer audiences an immersive sensory experience, providing a distinct form of engagement away from daily routines.

“ceiling service” is derived from the Dutch term for ‘the time spent awake in bed unable to sleep.’

A specific 20-minute audio-visual piece was developed in collaboration with sooom (Joon Kwak). Taking sooom’s intricate and profound sound as direct input, Jaeyoung Shin crafted and manipulated visuals in real-time. The visuals were designed to evoke a first-person journey through a virtual space, creating a tightly synchronized experience where the audience could visually navigate the sonic landscapes being generated live.
