“Mirror City” is a captivating audio-visual performance by composer and performer Dasom Baek, presented as part of the prestigious 2021 Arts Council Korea Creative Hub Showcase. This piece masterfully blends the evocative sounds of the traditional Korean Daeguem flute with cutting-edge interactive visuals, creating an immersive experience that reflects on themes of identity, technology, and the depths of the human psyche, as suggested by the performed pieces “Human Machine” and “Deep Sea”.
Spearheaded by Visual Director Yangho Sinn and brought to life with the interactive systems by Visual Artist Jaeyoung Shin, “Mirror City” invites the audience into a space where ancient melodies meet futuristic landscapes. It’s a compelling exploration of contrasts and connections, offering a unique sensory journey that resonates with diverse audiences – from those new to Korean traditional music and media art to seasoned experts and cultural innovators.
